Discovery Bay Golf Club is situated on a mountain above the upscale community of Discovery Bay on Lantau Island, one of Hong Kong's many outlying islands. Conveniently located within 25 minutes of the Central financial district; 10 minutes from Hong Kong Disneyland and 20 minutes from Hong Kong International Airport, Discovery Bay offers a unique golfing experience within minutes of the city of Hong Kong.
This Hong Kong golf club is firmly established as one of Southeast Asia's premier golfing venues. Open in 1983, Discovery Bay Golf Club offers three interesting and testing layouts; the Diamond, Jade and Ruby nines. The original 18-hole course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is both spectacular and difficult offering a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. An additional nine holes was constructed and opened for play in June 1992. The severe and mountainous terrain surrounding the course calls for accuracy and confidence.
The Diamond Course is generally considered to be the toughest, featuring dramatic elevation changes and very quick undulating greens. The Ruby Course is a little more forgiving from the tee than Diamond and offers some breathtaking views from its higher reaches. Understandably Discovery Bay Golf Club is a very popular course and has gained in reputation over the last few years. It is a club which has always prided itself on its wide-ranging facilities and high level of service. The Clubhouse consists of a two-tiered men’s changing room, fine Chinese and Western dining facilities, spike bar, lounge, proshop, driving range, swimming pool, tennis courts, deluxe private function room with karaoke system, mahjong rooms and guestroom accommodations. As a rule of thumb, dress conservatively. Men must wear collared shirts. T-shirts are not permitted. Ladies may wear sleeveless or collarless blouses provided that they are conservative, tasteful and of a type commonly considered standard golf attire. Suitable footwear must be worn at all times. Slippers and sandals are not permitted. Jeans or denim trousers are not permitted.
